The self-signed certificate for firmware versions on certain versions of Digital Media Player (DMP) systems expires on August 29, 2013. An expired certificate causes failure of communication between the Digital Media Manager (DMM) and DMP systems, which leads to content that does not play on schedule.
Upgrade to Release 184.108.40.206 (for Release 5.2 customers) and Release 5.3.5 (for Release 5.3 customers) prior to August 29, 2013 in order to prevent this problem.
The self-signed certificate expiration causes communication failure between the DMP and DMM systems. The DMP system shows status "down" in the DMM GUI. The customer might observe that the scheduled content might not play on the DMP system.
On August 29, 2013 and after, the DMP and DMM system communication fails with the DMP Manager user interface and reports the "HTTP status: 500 Unknown Exception: peer not authenticated" error message. The DMP Manager user interface reports DMP status as "down" and does not play the content as scheduled.
Cisco recommends that the customer apply the software fix to recover the self-signed certificate expiration. Follow the steps outlined here:
1. Log in to your Cisco.com account and then go to this software download URL:

Based on your DMP Software Release, go to All Release
. Choose 5
and the Release number.
In order to determine your DMP version, go to your DMM GUI. Go to the DMP manager and check the "Version" Column:
The download is the DMMnnn-patch-CSCty22538.iso file where nnn is the release number. For example: DMM522-patch-CSCty22538.iso is for Release 5.2.2. DMM53-patch-CSCty22538.iso is for Release 5.3.
Note: Release 220.127.116.11 does not have a patch. The customer must use the patch posted for Release 5.2.2.

Note: If your DMM is part of a High Availability cluster, contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) in order to obtain help with the patch installation.
