Migration to new field notice system
Updating to reflect expiration of UMPIRE. Now fix on failure
|Affected Product ID
||Limited number of UCS-C3X60-SVRN Server Nodes Had mfg issues|
The system boards on a limited number of server nodes (SVRNs) have manufacturing issues. These boards are susceptible to failure.
There was a temporary manufacturing process issue with the fabrication of the main board.
The impacted SVRNs might no longer work.
Complete the instructions in the How to Identify Affected Products section of this Field Notice in order to retrieve the serial number for your SVRN(s). Use the Serial Number Validation tool in order to verify that your product is affected.
Replace impacted units when they fail.
Important: For every SVRN that needs to be replaced, you MUST also request the Pick-and-place tool (UCS-CPU-EP-PNP=), grease (UCS-CPU-GREASE3=), and cleaning kit (UCSX-HSCK=).
After the replacement bare SVRN has arrived, the memory and CPU must be moved from the original system to the new SVRN. Additionally, you will need to move the Host Bus Adapter (HBA) or Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) controller from the old system and run the Host Upgrade Utility (HUU) in order to flash the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) and BIOS firmware to the same version as before the replacement.
For details on how to replace the SVRN, see "Replacing a Drive Expander Module" in the Cisco UCS C3260 Storage Server Installation and Service Guide.
For details on how to use the HUU, see "Upgrading the Firmware on a Cisco UCS C-Series Server Using the HUU" in the Cisco Host Upgrade Utility 2.0(7) User Guide."
